This was such a sweet book that explored the themes of friendship, curiosity, and tending to nature with love! Nova is a curious little girl who learns to care for her new found discovery with love, patience, and diligence. She notices that this all pays off as it grows just like her! Nova also loves to spend her days with her best friend, Tommy the dog, who is there in all of her wonder. I have to say that the illustrations of her and Tommy are some of the most endearing and sweetest moments between a child and dog! There is an page where she is sleeping on him and my heart just melted! Their friendship and love for one another is truly heart-felt. Looking forward to the next book in this series!

I loved the characters, illustrations and that it was informative. When Nova realized a bean she found was alive. Her mom encouraged her to treat it like she treats her dog Tommy, that she loves so much. After she follows specific steps that are laid out in the book. The bean grew. I can't wait to try growing a bean by following the steps and activities in this book with my 5 year son.
